Photography Meet – SWPP Central Scotland Members Group (CSMG)

I recently attended a gathering of fellow photographers for a photography meet and shoot with a male model in Edinburgh. I had never met any of them before so didn’t know what they looked like or anything. We arranged to meet at Calton Hill, where there are some columns which make for a great backdrop for photography.

On the day it was cold and damp when we got there and the mist had closed in so much we could barely see where we were going never mind taking in the views. After the introductions we got down to the photography bit by taking turns at setting up shots and posing Ross, the male model for the day.

Only a few images were shot on Calton Hill due to the encroaching mist, and it was decided to move more into the town of Edinburgh itself. Whilst wandering around an alleyway showed some possibilities and we decided to shoot there for a while. Again taking turns to pose Ross and try different locations in and around the alleyway. Lunch followed along with a good old technical natter about all things photography related along with some crude jokes.

After lunch saw us wandering around Princess Street Park taking various shots until we came across the cemetery and the opportunities for photographic images that area provided. Using a crypt like building with no roof allowed us to get some great shots just using natural light.

Most of all I think I speak for all who attended in thanking Matt Cain (Photographic Dreams) for arranging what was a fantastic day of photography, networking and learning.

With the images I shot on the day I was able to try something different from my normal style. I purposefully took images with a hard gritty style of post processing in mind, Some of the processed images are shown below.
